T Racing is administered by the MG Car Club (MGCC) T Register, and incorporated within the Register's Car Of The Year scheme. Drivers can score points in the Speed section for COTY by not only taking part in the half dozen or so races organised by the Competition Secretary, but by competing in any other event, either race, sprint or hillclimb, providing evidence is supplied to back-up a claim. The scheme thus encourages drivers to use their cars to the full, and rewards those who do so. There are trophies for the different types of event, and for each class, and the car that amasses the most points qualifies for the prestigious T Tray.
Other awards include the Hanks Trophy. This is a magnificent solid silver model of a TD Midget, painted blue, and with full leather upholstery! It is awarded at the end of the season to the driver who, in the opinion of his fellow competitors, best epitomises the spirit of T Racing. Although the T Races at MGCC events are designated Hanks Trophy Races, no points are awarded - the drivers themselves vote for the recipient at the end of the year.
For T Races there are 4 Classes, as follows:
Class A Standard T Types
Class B Road Modified T Types
Class C Full Race T Types and Standard MGAs
Class D XPAG engined period Specials
Other sports cars of the period (1936 - 55, plus or minus a bit) and performance are welcome to join in, and are allocated to a Class according to their results.
